What's With The Hat, Vern? [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014]

The new 2014 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was pretty cool to see with a friend of mine.

Immediately wanted to draw something based on it, but using the 1987 original animated series by Fred Wolf style. :)

There was one scene where Vernon (or Vern) gets called by April O'Neil to meet her. He mistakes it for a date and wears a pretty ugly fedora hat to meet her. When April walks to him, she asks:

What's with the hat?

So this was my take on it. :)

Hopefully I can squeeze more TMNT related art, as would be cool to draw the classic Turtles, but in this new movie's settings.

Donald Duck in Animation - A reader's blog [finnish]

I was fortunate enough to write a "reader's blog" about Donald Duck for the Official Finnish Donald Duck -website. Concentrated on Donald's animated looks in this first entry and if anyone knows finnish, they can go check it out here.

Below are the image-captures I made into a collage about Donald Duck's history in Animation.

You will help them accomplish wonders... [Man of Steel]

Just saw the "Man of Steel" trailer #3 and just had to make this image. Really loved the music in the trailer and Jor-El's speech.

Can't wait to see the movie!

Mai Shiranui Colored by Jukka

Just saw Spoony's review about King of Fighters movie and it was really enjoyable.
Go check out the video! :)

His quick rant about the potrayal of Mai Shiranui in the film reminded me of an artwork I coloured way back in the day...

Batgirl locked up in Arkham Asylum [sketch #2]

Continuing from my earlier Batgirl locked up in Arkham Asylum [sketch #1] here is my second quick sketch for the fake-cover layout.

I'm still trying what poses I could get out of Batgirl and her side-to-side cell-mates Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. This time Commissioner Gordon is not walking away from her, but standing just outside and has a stern but confident look on his face.

While the Batman Gotham Adventures comic is set in the continuity and style of  cartoon Batman the New Adventures, I'm currently leaning more towards drawing Commissioner Gordon in Batman TAS style as well as Batgirl and Harley Quinn. I'm more of a fan of the gray-blue costumed Batgirl than mostly-black version.

Drawing was done with a 2½ HB lead-pencil and photo taken with HTC Desire smartphone.

Batgirl locked up in Arkham Asylum [sketch #1]

I've been a fan of Batman The Animated Series as well as it's follow-up The New Batman Adventures ever since I was a kid. The comics that were tied into giving extra life to the show's continuity were something that I never really got into, mostly because only few were published here in Finland.

But I'm really liking Batman Gotham Adventures and was inspired to draw a sketch of an cover-art, featuring Commissioner Gordon locking Batgirl inside Arkham Asylum, with Barbara trying to get his attention as the commish walks away.

Here's the first quick sketch that hopefully illustrates my idea for the layout. Proportions are propably way off, but I'll see to that when I start refining the lines.

Mad props to my bro Mikko for spitballing ideas with me. :)

He-Man Comic Colouring Assistance

My friends know that my dream came true as a He-Fan, when I got to voice King Miro for the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon from Mike Young Productions 2002-2004 (finnish dub).

Well I have been a big fan of the He-Man comic by MVCreations and was sad when the comic and toon ended.

A great opportunity came to me, when Val Staples, the writer/colourist of He-Man comic and onwer of MVCreations contacted me to do some colour assistance on a project called "Episode 40" which is the unproduced script from He-Man cartoon, as they were doing an comic-adaption of it to go as Special Feature to the He-Man DVD Volume 3 released on August 5th.

The Comic can be found as readable PDF on the DVDs Special Features, AND if you happen to buy the DVD from Best Buy store, there will be a Printed version of the comic packed with, which is SO AWESOME.
