Battle of Roboto - Repaneled

There are lot of fun blogs out there about comics and art. One of those is the Repaneled Blog by Anthony Vukojevich. Got my art featured there which was a blast.

I took a panel from the Masters of the Universe mini-comic "The Battle of Roboto" and re-drew it in the style of Filmation Studios, as I imagine it might have happened on the cartoon-show.

Betty Rubble

The Flintstones is a great show. Fantastic characters, fun animal-abuse as everyday household objects and imaginitive background-art.
I'm looking forward to Seth MacFarlane's version of the cartoon.

Oh and I always liked Betty more than Wilma.

Mai Shiranui Colored by Jukka

Just saw Spoony's review about King of Fighters movie and it was really enjoyable.
Go check out the video! :)

His quick rant about the potrayal of Mai Shiranui in the film reminded me of an artwork I coloured way back in the day...

Batgirl locked up in Arkham Asylum [sketch #2]

Continuing from my earlier Batgirl locked up in Arkham Asylum [sketch #1] here is my second quick sketch for the fake-cover layout.

I'm still trying what poses I could get out of Batgirl and her side-to-side cell-mates Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. This time Commissioner Gordon is not walking away from her, but standing just outside and has a stern but confident look on his face.

While the Batman Gotham Adventures comic is set in the continuity and style of  cartoon Batman the New Adventures, I'm currently leaning more towards drawing Commissioner Gordon in Batman TAS style as well as Batgirl and Harley Quinn. I'm more of a fan of the gray-blue costumed Batgirl than mostly-black version.

Vegan CaveGirl in PULP Girls

Digging through some old stuff.

At one point, I coloured for Jason Martin's PULP Girls project (from SuperRealGraphics) some sequential pages of Boo's character Bramble as the Vegan CaveGirl in her first story.

The PULP Girls #1 was sold as SDCC Convention book in 2009 if memory doesn't fail me too much.

Vegan CaveGirl had action, blood, vampires and an elf.

The book had many stories, with different artists working on them. It was a fun book. :)

Here's the blurb about it:

In your face, fun, dangerous, colorful, short and sweet.
Pulp Girls is a collection of concepts - inspired from grindhouse cinema, pulp heroes and similar genre roots - in small cliffhanger style format, all with a female-centric twist.

GIRLS + WEAPONS x DANGER = PULP GIRLS
I had never worked on colouring blood, so finding bloodspatters was a task. Also the jungle-environment needed some extra care, because I tested different ways to give that texture to all the trees and bushes.
One of the suggestions I had for the pages, was that the story would take place right as the night was ending and morning would be rising soon.
Which resulted from my need to go nuts with colours, and what better way than to add a sunrise to the mix. ;)

Batgirl locked up in Arkham Asylum [sketch #1]

I've been a fan of Batman The Animated Series as well as it's follow-up The New Batman Adventures ever since I was a kid. The comics that were tied into giving extra life to the show's continuity were something that I never really got into, mostly because only few were published here in Finland.

But I'm really liking Batman Gotham Adventures and was inspired to draw a sketch of an cover-art, featuring Commissioner Gordon locking Batgirl inside Arkham Asylum, with Barbara trying to get his attention as the commish walks away.
Here's the first quick sketch that hopefully illustrates my idea for the layout. Proportions are propably way off, but I'll see to that when I start refining the lines.

Mad props to my bro Mikko for spitballing ideas with me. :)

Commission workings

I have couple of commissions on which I'm working. Some great MOTU-related images with client's own character, MOTU mash-up movie Posters, Lois Lane & Mr. Mxyzptlk + Colouring on Feral Kitties. :P

Soon you get to see some sketches on this blog.
